2012

Sierra getting dressed up for school dance.

Matsuri Time

Sierra and her friend Collette at the 2012 Matsuri Japanese culture festival in downtown Phoenix.

Fun at Desert Breeze Park

Sue, Sierra, her friend Collette, myself and Kara went to Desert Breeze park March 3 for the Sheltie Rescue Extravaganza. We had a fun time. Kara didn't particularly like the obstacle course, but did well with all the other dogs. Yes, I was having a bad allergy day

 Everyones a critic

In Karas opinion, the breakfast around here only ranks one glove.

Happy 14th. Birthday Sierra

Sierra and friends got together for a movie and pizza party for her 14th. birthday. They watched "Mirror Mirror" (the movie, not the Star Trek episode) and had pizza in the AMC theatre parking lot.

I love my Prius . . .

Commute to work, 35 miles, 56 miles per gallon.

Easter 2012

Bright pretty Easter Eggs. Rob and Theresa were able to enjoy Easter dinner with us.

If you knew Sushi like we know Sushi . . .

Yes, we like our Sushi. Rob and Theresa took us to a nice revolving food Sushi restaurant in Chandler. It was very good.

Cooking on Earth Day

So for Earth Day we enjoyed solar cooked pork steaks.

Just to make a Pointe

Sierra at a Ballet Photo Shoot on Cinco de Mayo.

 8th. Grade Dance

The big dance for the 8th. Grade.

Interesting reflection from partial solar eclipse

Reflections from the yard string lights on a while box during a partial solar eclipse. The patterns show how much of the sun was showing behind the moon.

Happy Memorial Day

For my birthday and the Memorial day weekend we took the train out of Clarksdale up the Verde Valley. We spent the night at Dead Horse State Park.
Went to the Blazin M Ranch Country Dinner Show. It was a great weekend.

Sierra and Dolphin Eastern Caribbean Cruise 2012

Sue and Sierra went on a family cruise to the eastern Caribbean. The Wasuricks, Iliffs and other famiily were all there. J.D. stayed home to keep the animals alive. Next time.

Hello Houston . . . We have a Freshman

First day as Freshman for Sierra.

Labor Day Weekend in the cool pines.

For Labor Day weekend we enjoyed the cool and rain of the Arizona high country. Circle Pines KOA just outside of Williams has a number of cabins and lodges, we opted for a good size one. As Kara and Sierra's friend Collette came along, we had to get a cargo carrier for the Prius. It was a nice trip. Dinner with some friends in Flagstaff, touring an Art Show and putting in some shopping. Had a nice campfire and the kids made Smores and went swimming. On the way back we stopped at the Trout Farm so Collette could try out fishing.

 New Squirrel

Looks like we have a new squirrel in the backyard.

Javalinas in the Neighborhood

Saw these two young javalinas on the back road to Walmart, across the street from Hurley trucking. We have seen a male javalina walking down Beardsley once a few years ago. It's nice to know there are still other ones within two miles of the house.

2012 State Fair

Sierra and her friend Lexi enjoying the bumper cars at the state fair.

 Take that OPEC

We added a Smart Car to the fleet. We fill it up at the beginning of each month. Sue is currently using it to go to work, Sierra will be learning to drive in the next year or so. As it is basically a roll cage on wheels, we think it would be good car for her to learn with. Add to that the Prius that averages about 47 mpg and we have a fairly gas sipping fleet. Well, except the jeep of course, but hey, need something to tow the camper.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving 2012. Rob and Theresa joined us in watching "Rise of the Guardians" then we had a wonderful feast.

Remembering Robin

by jdfulkerson
November 19th. 2012, my cousin Robin Withers lost her battle with cancer. It was a long fought battle, but it seems like she always had a smile and a good attitude. I'm sure there were dark and terrible times as well. But it will be that great smile and "Hi J" that I will always fondly remember.
